The JVP has issued a press release challenging Ranil for a debate.
What a laugh.
The idiots are in power. It now time to deliver on the fairy tales that they promised the stupid voters of this country.
Being unable to deliver, they seek to score debating points (something they are good at) and pin the blame on the problems on people who have not held power since 2003.

you are right, i think ppl by this time know what pot pot and co. are. as we will probably see in local government elections, if they contest separately. though that may be bad in the long term, since that may result in their getting together in the next election.
JVP have to show the members and voters they are mighty than UNP – they have to keep the competition goes on..
What they are doing does not make any sense to any one with rational mind. But remember.. Common people does not have rational mind – they want to see the competition – who is winning – rather than solving real problem.
Protecting people form imaginary danger is the hype these days.
That is the same tactic Bush used too. The real issue lay in Saudi-Arab and Pakistan but war going on in Iraq.
JVP do the same thing. Real issues lies some where else – but fight goes on some other place.
If I’m a JVP member I would do the same thing. UNP is very venerable and easy to attach – all I need right amount of hate. Return is high.
Me thinks politics has moved in a direction where new parties are anhialated by old ones.. they keep old pathetic ideals going for the sake of old times. when in fact no one is true to themselves or society. But in fact polititians have been stereotyped. and there might be a few good ones here n there. yet.. sadly.. their only option is to join unp / jvp / .. etc.. so whats associated with them old parties? Uselessness, corruption, crime, worthless s**t.. im totally lost when it comes to politics and parties.
oh.. i hate all talks of politics!!!!
cant stand it no more...

Some politicians are real murderers. Ranil Wickremesinghe was behind the burning of Jaffna Public Library in 1981. Ranil Wickremesinghe ordered and witnessed the execution of hundreds of innocent young men from Kelaniya area in his torture chamber in Batalanda in 1989 which was confirmed by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry which comprised retired judges. The courts rejected charges based on technical issues, not factual issues. Since Ranil Wickremesinghe committed these horrendous crimes in Batalanda, Ranil Wickremesinghe had to abandon not only his electorate of Biyagama, but also the Gampaha District. Since these murders Ranil Wickremesinghe is an MP without an electorate – thanks to his uncle J. R. Jayawardene’s constitution. After the 1989 Batalanda mass murder, Ranil Wickremesinghe recruited a convicted killer and multiple criminal Gonawala Sunil as his secretary. Ranil Wickremesinghe’s secretary Gonawala Sunil went around killing and intimidating people Ranil Wickremesinghe wanted to be silenced. Several dedicated armed forces personnel were also threatened by Gonawala Sunil. Ranil Wickremesinghe’s corruption in “LH Plantations” has been highlighted with excruciating details by his closest ally Mangala Samaraweera. Ranil Wickremesinghe’s very close family members own several newspapers, broadcasting and telecasting stations which promote Ranil Wickremesinghe and help to prolong his political survival.
